Girl Child Empowerment
Empowering girls is an important issue that needs to be addressed in every community, unfortunately, many poor girls around our communities are still facing discrimination and inequality, which can limit their opportunities and potential.
However, there are many ways in which we can help empower girls and make a positive difference in their lives.
Because of poverty in the communities/ families, parents who have children who are girls, view at them as away of getting rich through forcing them into early marriages and get dowery (cows, goats and money) in return.
Poverty can always be a major barrier to education and opportunities for girls, and by providing support, we can help them break out of the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams.
What we are doing
There are many ways in which we can provide support to a poor girl in the communities. For example, we can provide financial assistance to help cover the costs of education, books, and other necessities.
Also, many girls in the communities of Jinja and beyond miss school because of lack of sanitary pads in their menstrual periods. We can also offer mentorship and guidance, helping them to develop their skills and build their confidence. Additionally, we can advocate for policies and programs that support girls’ education and employment, and work to raise awareness about the importance of girl’s rights.
